On Wednesday May 3 some of our U10 and U11 Netball players had the opportunity to play in a mixed year group friendly tournament at St. Mary’s. There was some fantastic competition on the day with a total of eight teams participating. We kicked off the tournament with one of the most intense matches of the day: both our teams competing against one another. All of our girls were very competitive and the final score was a draw, a great start for both teams.
Our first team then went on to be undefeated right up until the final. They achieved some great results including against St Helens’s (3-0), St. Augustine’s Priory (1-0), Gateway A (9-0), Gateway B (2-0) and St. Mary’s (6-0) before qualifying for both the semi-finals and onto the finals. This was an incredibly intense match and the girls put up a great fight, just missing out on a win.
Our second team remained undefeated for four out of seven matches and thus qualified for the semi-finals where they were just knocked out, finishing in a very successful third position. This was particularly impressive as the team who defeated them here did go on to win the overall tournament.
We all had a really fun afternoon and a special mention should be given to Taliya who was awarded the accolade of Player of the Tournament. All the girls demonstrated fantastic team work and played some brilliant netball, in particular Ruby, Farah and Evelyn who all received an award for player of the match.
Well done to both teams and thank you for everyone who came to support them.
