On Friday 6 October Year 6 girls took a trip to Waddesdon Manor to view the work of world renowned ceramicist, Kate Malone and to see the "Creatures and Creations" exhibition.
We had great fun in the house and grounds finding 3 works by Kate Malone and spotting and photographing the aspects of the house and grounds that inspired her.
We then went down to the Stables exhibition space to see the work of 2 artists and how they had been inspired by artefacts from the Rothschild collection. Platon H had created amazing digital prints on canvas and light boxes and Mary Katrantzou had printed designs onto silk and used them to create beautiful silk dresses. They had both taken patterns from creatures discovered by Walter Rothschild, the famous zoologist, whose collection now resides in the Natural History museum, Tring.
In the coming weeks we will be using the photographs of our visit, along with items that we will be borrowing from the Natural History museum, to create some paintings and printed silk for our own work.
