On Friday 10 October the girls learned about the importance of Remembrance Day. The day started with a Remembrance Assembly in the Upper School Hall. Mrs Clifford addressed the school, giving a very interesting talk on how the poppy became the symbol of Remembrance. The girls then reflected on things that they love or which matter to them in order to appreciate the sacrifice given by our fallen soldiers, which enables us to enjoy the freedom that we have today. Our Drama Prefects, Nicole and Siena, recited the poem 'In Flanders Field' with great expression and feeling, followed by the rest of the Year 6 girls giving a confident performance of the hymn, 'Make Me a Channel of your Peace'. Mrs Clifford then gave a talk on the origins of 'The Last Post' before asking the whole school to stand to witness a live performance of 'The Last Post'. Our Head Girls read the prayers to the girls, finishing off what was a very moving and powerful assembly.
The girls all observed two minutes’ silence at 11:00am.
