On Friday 17 November, four Year 6 girls left the Children In Need fund raising activities to go to Davenies to represent High March in their annual History Competition. The four girls were: Iris, Eliza, Ella and Francesca.
On arrival the girls went straight into their History Challenge; they had to investigate a number of sources to help them decide whether they thought Guy Fawkes was guilty or had been misrepresented. The girls then produced a poster displaying their argument.
Next they played an interactive game against all the other schools; this involved matching names to photos of famous people from history shown on screen. It was very exciting and it also became very competitive, as everyone could see the ranking of each school as the game progressed.
Later, the girls were given a talk on World War One by Mr Ben Sadler and Mr Matt Radley from Haileybury School, after which came Prize Giving and tea. Even though the girls didn’t win on the day, they were a credit to High March and they worked extremely well together as a team.
