Just before half term, Year 5 had a trip to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. It was particularly exciting as we were visiting the much acclaimed and sold out Frida Kahlo exhibition. The exhibition itself was very thought provoking, as it included many photographs and artefacts detailing Frida's often tragic life. The girls fully appreciated how courageous and inspiring she had been to overcome her many difficulties to become a world renowned artist. They also enjoyed seeing many of her beautiful dresses and Mexican costumes, of which she was extremely proud.
It was a pleasure to take the girls on this trip and a visitor from Holland commented on what a delight it was to see our knowledgeable girls taking such an interest in the exhibition. The photo shows Year 5 in front of a new sculpture by Frida Kahlo who created the flower designs for the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
