Earlier today our Year 5 and 6 gymnastics team took part in the South Bucks Schools Gymnastics competition. The team consisted of Sophie Y, Lily P, Eliza, Gabriella, Jenna-Mei and Grace H. The girls were superb representatives for the school, performing under pressure and making the most of the opportunity.
Sophie, Grace and Gabriella performed excellent floor routines, which included skills such as round offs and backward roll to straddle. All three girls performed skilfully and with confidence. Lily, Jenna-Mei and Eliza performed body management routines involving complex skills such as the splits, japana and half levers. The whole team then performed the vault; all girls attempted through vaults and squat on vaults and demonstrated poise and balance.
It was a superb day out for all the gymnasts: they scored highly and were overall winners. Not only did the girls win the overall award, but they also won the vault, floor and body management disciplines individually. A very well-deserved set of results! The team has now qualified for the county finals event in April.
Very well done to all girls who took part.
