Year One proudly supported High March’s commitment to being an Eco School in their musical ‘Eddie the Penguin Saves the World!’ last week. Through their enthusiastic acting and energetic singing, the children reminded their audience that it is everyone’s responsibility to protect the environment from global warming and plastic pollution.
In the musical, Eddie the penguin discovered that the habitat he lived in was changing. The ice was melting! He decided to take his family to find a new home at the North Pole, where he met Peggy the polar bear and her family. He discovered that the actions of human beings were causing the ice to melt and so Eddie and his friends went on a mission to save the planet and let the world know how we can all change things for the better.
The journey across the planet involved visiting the Prime Minister and our very own Junior House Eco teacher, Miss Dale. Eddie and his friends learnt a lot from their visit to High March. Through lively action songs, Year one celebrated how, like Eddie the Penguin, High March children help to ‘save the world’ by walking, scooting and cycling to school, turning off lights, recycling and reducing waste in waste week. What an entertaining way to promote such an important message.
Well done, Year One!
