On Saturday 15 June our annual Senior Sports Day took place at Davenies School. The weather was perfect on the day and the girls performed exceptionally well.
All four houses were full of team spirit and plenty of cheering could be heard from the marquees where the girls were seated. Our first event was an exhibition by our three record breaking long jumpers, Imogen B in Year 4, Grace H in Year 5 and Maria in Year 6. They all jumped exceptionally well recording 3 metres 25cm, 3 metres 72cm and 4 metres 02cm respectively. The track races followed with the 400m starting proceedings. All girls selected ran well, with some close finishes. Girls from Years 2 to 6 then ran in the hurdles and sprint races with some girls also competing in the javelin. It was then time for the house relays, with Year 2 competing in a shuttle relay and Years 3 to 6 competing in the legendary human caterpillar race! To finish off the events, some selected girls competed in a sprint relay, showing excellent speed and changeovers.
Very well done to all the girls who put in such good efforts for their houses. It was a well deserved victory for Shamrock house this year with great performances across all age groups. We also had two notable individual awards: our Junior Victor Ludorum was Grace H in Year 5 and our Senior Victor Ludorum was Maria in Year 6.
A fantastic sporting day for High March!
