Beaconsfield was in the grips of a Great Fire last week, but there was no rush to contact the fire brigade. The citizens of Year 2 at High March School formed a human chain to douse the flames of their simulated Great Fire of London which was part of their History and Science work. Using boxes, wood, clay and straw, the girls from Year 2 built houses with authentic overhanging upper floors showing just how the fire in 1666 was able to spread so quickly. The changing wind direction allowed them to experience first hand the difficulties facing the fire fighters. Unlike the original fire they were aided by a late afternoon shower!
