This term the children at High March have been delighted to be able to start their swimming lessons in their stunning new, indoor swimming pool on the school site in Ledborough Lane, Beaconsfield. The pool has taken 10 months to build and the school has been eagerly anticipating the opening ever since the start of the project.
The Headmistress, Mrs Sue Clifford, said, “The children have been incredibly excited at the news that they can swim every week throughout the year. It is a wonderful facility and we are looking forward to inviting other schools to participate in galas hosted here.”
The pool is 20 metres long and all children from Reception to Year 6 have a swimming lesson once a week. Swimming lessons for Nursery children are also under consideration.
“We have also been able to increase the size of our swimming squads from 40 to 80,” said Mrs Jayne Mckee, the Head of PE, “we are also able to have ‘fun swim sessions’ after school, and swimming sessions for parents, both of which are proving very popular.”
Ginny Kucera, aged 7, said, “It is so exciting to be able to swim at school. I go in the swimming pool twice a week and I love it.” Abby Imlah, aged 7, added, “I know it is going to help me get better at swimming and we have lots of fun in our lessons too.”
High March is planning to hold an official opening event for the new pool during the course of next term.
