Maddy, Grace and Anna display their winning creations
The third Buckinghamshire Recycled Clothes Show took place in November, on this occasion moving from Aylesbury to the rather grander venue of the Wycombe Swan. All schools in Buckinghamshire were invited to take part with the secondary schools designing garments for the catwalk show and the junior schools producing accessories.
As ever, Year 5 enthusiastically collected piles of recycled materials and designed and made a huge variety of accessories, ranging from hats to bags, belts to jewellery and gloves to shoes. The standard was, once again, extremely high and the girls had the added difficulty this year of having to base their design creation on one of the four elements of Earth, Water, Air or Fire.
High March submitted a very strong entry and we were extremely pleased to hear that, for the third year running, we had scooped first place, thanks to Grace Peachey's parasol, based on Air. An amazing achievement! This year we also won second and third prizes courtesy of Anna Way and her fascinator, based on Fire and Maddy Speed and her bag, based on Earth. The other finalists were Annabel Smith, Millie Honiball, Victoria Greenough, Jessica Slater, Francesca Healy, Olivia Warburton and Isabel Windsor.
Well done to all the girls who submitted an entry!
