School Travel Plan
Our Junior Road Safety Officers, Lucy and Francesca, work with the High March Lollipop Ladies and help to make people aware of our School Travel Plan
High March has a small team of High March governors, parents, pupils and neighbours who meet regularly to discuss school travel-related issued and to find ways of involving the School community to make road safety and consideration a part of everyday School culture.
The School Travel Team has the following aims:
- To promote environmental awareness by cycling or walking to School.
- To reduce the number of car trips to School each day.
- To promote road safety awareness for parents as well as children.
- To encourage positive relations with High March neighbours.
We have a strong walk to School ethos but we do recognise that some parents will find it necessary to drive/park in the immediate vicinity of the School. To reduce congestion around High March, we have spoken to St. Michael’s Church in Grenfell Road and they have agreed to allocate High March a limited number of parking spaces in the morning for 'Park and Walk' to School purposes.
The Working Party set up to monitor the School Travel Plan will consider all applications by current parents for a permit to park at St. Michael’s.
